Great Deal Samsung LN32B550 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

This TV is now old and superseded by other better 120Hz TV’s. Personally, I checked out the 120Hz v/s 60Hz TV’s at Best Buy and I couldn’t tell any difference. I think this is all a gimmick to keep making people pay for new stuff. First there was DVD quality, then ED quality which was kinda HD, then 720p, then 1080i and now BluRay and finally Full HD 1080p. Since this topic of HD is now exhausted, the newest manufacturer trick is to double the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz to 240Hz etc. I have a 5-year old 1080i 50″ Hitachi LCD rear projection TV and I am happy with that. All this new stuff is just to entice customers with buzzwords.

Anyways, coming to this TV, it has good picture quality out of the box. However, the sound quality is average. I played my home music streamed through my PS3 and the sound quality was just average or even below average. There was no bass thump, no oomph in the music. It was flat, monotonous and generally average. Now, I can understand smaller TV’s needing external speakers, but this is a 32″ TV. You should give it good sound. My earlier Samsung 19″ this replaced had better sound.

PS3 over BluRay was good. Game mode is a plus since signal passes unprocessed meaning faster response time. I think this TV has 6ms response time which is good enough for most games. Unless you have super fast motion where you may see ghosting although I think that still will be rare with the 6ms.

Enough ports on the back for the PC, HDMI, component so no complaints. TV Remote is good and well laid out. Light on/off feature on remote is a nice touch for dark rooms.

The red touch of color is barely visible and I could only tell when sunlight fell on the TV. Else you cannot even tell its got the red touch. This is a silly useless feature anyways.

Oh and the swivel feature of the stand is a big plus over Sony and other TV’s in this category.

Overall, I will recommend you buy this but hear out the audio quality first in BestBuy.

I just received this tv today so I have not had a chance to see or use all of the functions. So as far as a plug and play review, I have nothing bad to say about this set, and I think I am a harsh critic, personally. I did my research before buying and found this 32″ set to be the clear winner. Amazon had the best price by far and shipment was faster than expected.
THis is my 3rd HD set and this one is superior to the others, especially the sound quality, in my opinion, which is something I was concerned about. Swivel feature is very nice and unexpected. It is the perfect size for my bedroom, and I’m glad to hear about the lower power/brightness feature for late night watching, as another reviewer mentioned.
Overall…I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. If you are thinking it over, my advice is go for it! There are lemons out there no matter what you do or where you shop, as I see has happened to some of the folks here, unfortunately. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I just received it today. Will update my post in a couple of months (hopefully with more great news! Let’s just say, I’m keeping the box! Hey, you just never know).

I researched this TV and in the 32 inch category it came away the clear winner! The Picture quality is awesome, the number of inputs and outputs exceed what most people need however they will be there in the future should you need them. There is even a USB port on this TV. The contrast ratio is far greater than Sony or any other brand I have come across. I expected to pay in excess of 0 for what Amazon is offering for 9 + free shipping! Great Deal Samsung UN46B8000 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED HDTV

Putting the viewing experience into words is very difficult. Watching movies that I’ve seen several times over is like watching them the first time, in a different perspective. It is definitely like watching things in person, you just have to experience it to believe it. I have my PS3 and Xbox 360 hooked up via HDMI. The picture with movies and games is absolutely amazing. Even HD channels have the feel of “being on set.”

I was seriously on the fence about purchasing a new television to replace my 40″ Samsung, which is only two years old. I was stalking this TV at Best Buy for quite a while (BTW the standard in-store demo does not do this TV justice). I am certainly glad I was able to find a fantastic deal on Amazon to give me the justification to make this purchase. I must say if you can afford the purchase, I certainly recommend this TV to you. I have not experienced any issues at all with this TV (sound, picture, operation, etc.).

First– the picture is superb. The 2010 Winter Olympics were simply stunning with the brightly-colored athletic gear. Great sources look, well, great.
The animated movie “Up” looked almost 3D, absolutely jaw dropping like you were in the movie with the characters.
Some modes need to be adjusted for the source. Motion smoothing does weird things to film-based sources making them look like video. Some may like it because there’s the sensation that you are right in the room with the actors, but I find it less than appealing. On other material such as sports, it looks good.
With this great picture why the 3-star rating? The TV arrived with a bad remote– a hugh hassle since the remote makes the access to all its features a snap. Samsung sent another remote but the second was also DIA. Samsung refused to send a technician to the house because “they don’t do house calls for remotes.” If this situation is not resolved, it will be a major blow to our enjoyment of the TV, something we intended to be in our living room for years to come. I will update this review if the situation improves but the 3-star rating will stay.

Fantastic Picture but stopped working in 4 days – J. Baillie –
This TV has an absolutely fantastic picture. I looked at many LCD/LED/Plasma TVs in the stores before making this purchase and this looked the best. From the comfort of our couch without the distractions of the store it was even better.

***BUT*** It just stopped working after 4 days or about 25 hours.

I started searching and there is a known problem with other Samsung TVs.
Do an Internet search on “Samsung LCD TV won’t turn on” or “Samsung LCD TV clicking noise”
Another note: I purchased the USB wireless device for the TV and it was not able to pick up a signal it did not even see the access point, but the Sony play station and my laptop are able to pick up a usable signal. The signal to the other devices are weak but at least they work. I will move the access point. Being this is one of Samsungs top models you would think the wireless access would have been included or if having to pay extra at least it should work better.

Hopefully it won’t be a hassle getting it replaced. I saved a chunk of cash buying it on line. Time will tell if I should have bought locally.

Great Deal Samsung LN40B550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

I needed to replace a defective Magnovox TV (32″ LCD flat screen) so choose this Samsung LN40B550 40″ 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color. I started researching different brands of TV’s, read reviews (very helpful), shopped prices and finally decided on this Samsung model. I found this same set on sale at Costco with free shipping but decided to check out prices at Amazon. I discovered I was able to save consider money (over 0.00 plus) by purchasing it through Amazon even with paying extra shipping charge. I bought my set on 2/6 and it was brought to my home on 2/14 by freight company (they could have delivered it a few days earlier but that didn’t fit my schedule). The set was brought into my home, unpacked, plugged in to make sure it was working, remote checked and I was given option of having box taken away. What a great delivery process! I was able to hook it up to cable box, attach my blue ray disc player & Wii console by myself (I’m a senior). This TV is awesome & the right choice for me. Since I’m not an electronic wizard I was looking for a TV that suited my needs. This certainly does that & more. I would recommend this Samsung model, picture color is beautiful, remote is perfect size, manual gives all the instruction I need, sound is good, easy to operate & perfect for my bedroom. Watching the Olympics on my new TV is a great experience.

This TV is great. Especially for the price. When I first switched over to HD, the difference is amazing. As far as this tv goes, the picture is very good. Sound is alright if you are just listening through the TV speackers. The Touch of Color is almost non-existent and seems to be a marketing ploy. The touch sensitive buttons on the actual unit are very hard to operate and they do not seem to light up making them even more difficult to find and use. The 60 hz of this tv used to not bother me too much but after watching a lot of sports, it becomes apparent that the refresh rate is a little slow. Overall this tv is a great buy, especially for a new hdtv owner. Now if i had only gotten the bigger one…

Great Deal Samsung UN55C7000 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)

I have not purchased this HDTV (yet) but have seen it in 3 stores in person running 2 different bluray movies (Monsters v Aliens and Speed Racer) and saw it on both ESPN HD and on the Food Network (HD). I was tempted to pull the trigger on the price drop this week to 99 at Amazon, but alas, it is gone (for now) and back up to 00.

Videophiles argue about the flashlighting in the corners on this TV due to the edge lit LED technology and, thus, I may wait to see the c8000 before making a decision (it is supposed to have “pinpoint dimming”). In any event, having seen this TV in various environments, I believe the flashlighting is overblown. Yes, it has a very faint (only in the bottom 2 corners – not the top) glow if you have black bars at on the screen or in a VERY dark scene (VERY). However, if someone didn’t tell you about it, you’d likely never notice it.

The best part about this TV is how crisp the colors and sharpness are out of the box. Even in dynamic mode, this TV blows anything on the floor away other than maybe the b8500 from Samsung (which has local dimming). It was next to a b8000 and b7000 (2009 models) at one store, and the c7000 looks phenomenally better. It also has much less glare from those two (which have shiny – plasma like screens). The best plasmas in the store couldn’t hold a candle to this TV.

The biggest downside I noticed was not the (over critiqued) flashlighting, but the off center loss of black levels. If you stand out 10 feet from the TV and then move 5-6 feet either way, you notice a big difference in contrast. But, in the sweet spot, this TV looks unbelievable.

Way overpriced for price range – BVK – San Francisco, CA
The TV is comparable to 8000 series in performance but does not match up to the 8500 local dimming version. The price is way overblown considering other manufactures offer the same TV for far less. 99 is a reasonable price.

Great Deal Samsung LN26B360 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV

Being a college kid and constantly striving to make sure that every dollar spent, is definately worth it, I did weeks of research before coming to the conclusion of purchasing this television. It may be one of the cheaper models that Samsung makes, but personally I believe it so far has proven to be a worth-while purchase. I have owned the TV for about a month now and don’t regret it one single bit. Currently, I do not use it as a TV to watch TV, so I can offer no insight to what its compatibility is with standard, mid-western cable service. However, I can review it on its use as a computer monitor and video game television.

As a computer monitor: This television provides crystal clear graphics on computers that can transmit the proper screen format. The computer that I have hooked up to it is a 2006 Dell XPS 400 that originally came with a 19″ Flat-screen LCD display in 1280×1024 resolution, so I was not positive on whether or not this hookup would work with the 1360×768 resolution of the TV. Following the owners manual that comes with the television was very helpful in setting this whole process up; however, the use of certain display programs such as ATI Catalyst Control Center may be required in order to change the output to the TV in the correct format. After finally setting everything up, it looks and works like a dream as a monitor. I have watched programming from Hulu, YouTube HD, and other video websites and this TV allows for the full potential of hi-res videos across the internet to substitute for my lack of HD cable service. In fact, as I write this review, I, a very near-sighted man, am typing 6 feet away from the screen and could probably still sit a foot or two back more and strain very little to see what I’m typing. It may be overkill as a computer monitor, but nothing feels better than typing from a futon instead of a computer desk.

As a Gaming TV: Currently pleased with the results, but have not yet hooked up HDMI from my Xbox 360 to reach its full potential. I am using just the component connection that comes with the TV and games such as COD 4: Modern Warfare and Forza Motorsport 3 look stunning. The Xbox 360 originally wants to transmit in 720p, but you can change this manually to 1080i depending on what your preference is between the two. The TV, only 60hz processing speed, does a great job of keeping up with all of the gaming action and explosions with no noticeable blurring of images, so it works perfectly for those faster paced games.

The feature I like the most about the TV is its numerous amount of hookups available in the back. As seen in pictures above, the TV allows for many different electronics to be hooked into. As of right now, I only have a Xbox 360, Xbox, and computer hooked up to it, with the audio out going to the high power stereo I own and still have many other hookups available. Panasonic may have a less expensive TV on Amazon for 26″, but it does not have half of the hookups as this Samsung and does not allow for RCA audio-out. So if you are just an entry level LCD TV buyer who does not plan on hooking a ton of electronics up for multi-purpose, the panasonic would be fine, but for those like me, this TV offers many more options to play around with. The picture adjustment is very easy to operate and can help anyone achieve the picture quality they desire whether they want the deep blacks or a little more lighted picture. Customization is almost necessary since Samsung only has provided three picture presets which do not do the TV justice.

Addressing the proposed “squeal” that some people have experienced: Yes, I have noticed that the TV does make what I call a “humming”, but it is hardly noticable. The only time that it can be heard is when the room is completely silent and still one has to listen very tentatively to hear it. In comparison to standard televisions which have a much higher “humming” noise, this is nothing. Maybe some of the individuals writing reviews received bad units and this sound is more noticeable, but that is the risk one takes in buying anything, some products can be defective, its the nature of mass manufacturing.

I gave this product a Five star rating because it is very affordable and a great value for those on a tight budget, its versatility to interface with other electronics, and its ease of setup for picture quality and helpful owners manual.

I love the tv, it was exactly as described; however there is one major issue with the tv that people should know. This tv has the power button on the front bottom part of the tv, but it is not a button you push in; it is a button that is I think heat sensitive because you have to press power sign on the glass which is hard to see unless your looking straight at it. Think of the tv as a rectangle and on the bottom part of the rectangle smack dab in the middle is on button sensor. This is not in the manual which makes it even worse when trying to figure it out. I believe that was the only poor thing about it. I wish the picture and picture worked with TV to TV, not just component to TV and it doesn’t work great with cable unless you play around ALOT with the picture stuff like sharpness and color, etc.

Also, if you have an xbox, please realize that it can only go to 60hz so don’t get the tv if your getting it mainly for gaming purposes.

With the delivery, it took like 2 weeks when it said I would get it within 4 days. I didn’t mind too much because the shipping was free, so can’t really complain they sent a 40 inch for free. The shipping people were really nice when they scheduled the drop off and they were right on time. I would buy from them again.

This is one amazing TV! The picture is unbelieveable! I went from a 32″ to a 40″ and couldn’t be happier. Easy set up! The matt screen is a must for my sunroom. Takes up very little room and even when not on it look great! Very sleek. My daughter has the 46″ and loves hers also. The 40″ fit my room size better. Clear picture from any seat in the room. I shopped around and couldn’t match the price + free shipping not to mention the no interest payment plan.

This is one of the best TV’s I’ve owned so far. Right out of the box, the picture didn’t require any adjustments. Very easy setup with other AV components. Picture quality is outstanding especially when watching blu ray movies with the home theatre system – picture is very clear.

I’ve had this TV for about a month now, and have nothing negative to say about it. I bought this from Amazon – they didn’t have the lowest price – although competitive, but their reputation was a factor in deciding the purchase. Their delivery was one best and easiest to complete.

I would highly recommend this TV for anyone who is willing to pay a little bit more when comparing with the other fat LCDs out there – you get high quality and technology, and lots of adjustment capability – did I mention TV is super slim?!

Scrolling Wheel will not work inside the Widgets. TV On-Screen keyboard interface is not user friendly and fast enough. May fix through updates.

Need Codec updating feature(mkv files not playing with sound) .

Overall..Its very good HD TV for the given Size (55″), Power consumption, Space occupied, LED HD(new technology) (@240 Hz). etc and mainly PRICE.

I bought this TV about two and a half weeks ago. The picture is amazing with my wife telling me that it looks so clear that it freaked her out at first because it looked like the people on screen where on the other side of a glass or something.

I have directTV, a PS3, an Xbox 360, and wii hooked up to the system. All hooked up great and the picture for each is amazing. Would definetly recommend this to anyone looking for a new TV.

As an aside I have yet to see the flashlighting thing that so many people complain about and I watch a ton of movies in the letterbox format.

Considering that I am what most people would consider to be a tight wad, it took a considerable effort for me to spend 00 on a TV. After living with an 18″ TV for 11 years, about 2 of which half the time I had to unplug it because it would not turn off, I decided it was time to get a new TV. I began by looking for used ones on Craigslist but finaly decided to bite the bullet and get a new one. I spent months comparing reviews online and comparing in stores. I had it narrowed to the Vizio SV471XVT, mainly because it seemed like a lot of bang for the buck, the Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 and this of Samsung LN46B650. I had pretty much decided on the Vizio but, if I was going to spend around 00 on anything, I wanted to see one in person. This turned out to be a futile effort. I found lesser and smaller models at Wal Mart and Costco, but not this one. This made me begin to look at spending the extra money for the Samsung or the Sony. Again I spent hours staring at these Tv’s in Best Buy, Sears, and Fry’s. Even though the sales people were all pretty much in agreement that the Sony had a clearer picture, I fell in love with the picture on this TV. It is simply fantastic. I do believe that part of the great picture comes from the glossy screen, so this should be kept in mind when looking at this TV. I ended up putting good quality curtains in my living room to fight reflection. It is still worth it. The picture is that good. I also like the fact that the set up of all the settings, there are many, is fairly intuitive and I was able to figure it all out in an afternon. I realy like all of the customizable settings. If there is anything that I could say that could be improved on this TV, it is the automatic volume control that is supposed to level the volume of comercials. I have found that, with this feature turned on, movies or shows that have a wide range of volume levels from action to dialogue, it tries to level it out and it can be a bit annoying. My only other thought is that the inputs on the back of the TV and the power cord should be on the same side. This would make hiding the cables when it is wall mounted a bit easier.I also decided to spend the money on the Monster Home Theater PowerCenter(tm) HTS 1000 MKIII with Clean Power(tm) Stage 2 that has line conditioning. I actualy got this before my TV was delivered and noticed a better quality picture even on my old TV. And besides, if I was spending 00 on a TV, spending 0 to protect it seemed very reasonable.

I have not had this tv a year and I just entered the second repair ticket. I have had the horizontal lines now i have the vertical bar code issue. After the first repair the technician replaced every internal component. So this second issue is basically on a new tv. I’m not sure i”ll be buying another Samsung.
